MEET SYLVIA
Sylvia was elected to the Ontario Legislature on October 10, 2007 to the new riding of Dufferin-Caledon and serves as Progressive Conservative Critic for Community and Social Services and Children and Youth Services.
Sylvia became involved in the political scene in 1992, working with MPP David Tilson while he was an opposition member under the Bob Rae government. She continued working with Tilson in government and was Tilson’s key advisor as he served as both the Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Health and the Attorney General. When Tilson stepped aside to allow the new Premier to seek a seat, Sylvia continued her work with Premier Ernie Eves until his resignation.
Sylvia's experience at Queen's Park, and her excellent working relationships with municipal councillors, local organizations, and businesses throughout the riding, have developed over many years. Her extensive knowledge of the issues and what is important to the residents of Dufferin-Caledon make her an asset to the riding.
Sylvia enjoys giving back to the community and continues to be involved with local organizations including MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving), the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, the Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Health Quest campaign with Headwaters Health Care Centre.
Sylvia has lived in Orangeville for 21 years with her husband, David. They are proud parents of two children. Sylvia enjoys jogging and skiing on the community’s extensive trail system.
